By Sean R Mize

Are you trying to attract search engine traffic to your website through article writing? Then, let me share with you some tips that you can use to make this task targeted and a lot easier for you.

1. Start with keywords. The best way to impress the search engines is to make your articles keyword-rich. So, before you tap on your key board, get to know the popular search terms within your chosen niche. You will need to include these terms all throughout your content so your articles will fare well on relevant searches. You will also need to learn the Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI technique) or the process being used by search spiders in analyzing relationship between your targeted keywords and your article content. Your articles will most likely to appear on the top 10 search page results if you use words that are synonyms to your main keywords. Also, don’t forget to count the number of search terms you use to make sure that you will not exceed the acceptable keyword density which is 3% of your total article word count.

2. Build inbound links for your website. Distributing your articles on various publishing sites is currently the best way to generate inbound links for your website. As you know, this is one of the most effective ways to improve your page ranking. Ensure that you use as much hyperlinks (that will take your readers to your website or to your squeeze page) as possible on your resource box or article body (if you are posting your articles on your blog and relevant forums) to boost the number of your backlinks.

3. Learn how to use relevant HTML codes. You can’t just post your articles on your website or on your blog. If you want to help the search spiders in analyzing your content, you must use relevant HTML codes on your articles. Don’t know how to use HTML codes? No need to worry as there are various resources (ebooks, videos, audio, and even articles) that are available online. You don’t have to be computer savvy to learn the trick. In fact, all you need to do is perform a Google search and enter HTML codes tutorials and you’ll surely be able to get all the kind of information you need. If you are a visual learner, you may opt to find relevant information on YouTube.

By Brenda Prevost

Ensuring your web site is SEO friendly is paramount to its success. There are many ways to achieve this, some cost little money and some cost a lot. With a few simple techniques you can see your site raise in the search results without spending a fortune.

THINGS TO DO

After selecting your keywords, tags, description, etc. what else can you do to optimize your web site? Try these search engine optimization ideas for effective results.

(1) Do a search for sites similar to yours using some site related keywords. Select a few of the top results in the search. Analyze their keywords and tags by selecting “view” in the drop down menu of your browser and then click on “source”. There you will see what they’ve done to get such good placement.

(2) Using a keyword tool to see how your products or services are searched for and use those terms to describe what you sell. If done correctly, matching popular search terms with your goods or services will get you great search engine placement.

(3) Check all your links to make sure they work. Dead links are bad news for both search engines and converting traffic into sales. This is an often overlooked search optimization technique.

(4) Submit to directories like DMOZ, Yahoo Business Directory, etc. Some charge a fee but their inclusion is a key factor in getting search engines to list you. Visit strongestlinks.com for a comprehensive list of good directories.

(5) Create a sitemap and submit it to the search engines. This ensures that no pages of your site will be missed when they crawl your site. There are free programs that can create the sitemap for you. This is a free but high effective search optimization technique.

(6) If you write articles, be sure to publish them on your own site. Their keyword rich content increases your chances of being in their search engine results. You will also enjoy a better PR rating.

(7) Educate yourself through trade specific newsletters that discuss proper and effective SEO. They are an invaluable source for new ideas on search engine optimization.

THINGS TO AVOID

(1) Don’t use words like “of”, “the”, etc. in your keywords. Those are called “stop” words and not considered search engine friendly.

(2) Avoid using tables within your site whenever possible. While pleasing to the eye, search engines can’t always read them and they won’t follow the text links or recognize the content.

(3) Make your content keyword rich, but don’t go too far. Keyword “stuffing” can easily be detected and you’ll loose valuable search engine placement or even be excluded.

Why Organic Search Engine Optimization Is So Important To Your Online Business

August 5th, 2008 by Lewis Talbert

By Serge Daudelin

What is organic search engine optimization and why it’s so important to your online business? But at first let’s clear something. There are two ways to generate traffic from the search engines: Organic search engine optimization and paid search engine advertising.

Organic SEO is a method used for achieving a better search engine ranking via high quality and
relevant content. The key to Organic SEO is to incorporate, in a natural way, relevant keywords and phrases in the site’s structure.

Paid search advertising, or PPC, relies on purchased keywords or search phrases to send visitors to a website. If you are just starting a new website and struggle to get some traffics, PPC advertising is a solution to obtain a steady stream of visitors while you are waiting your website to rank well in the search engines.

But keep in mind that PPC advertising can be very costly. Some competitive keywords require a minimum bid of 2$ to get your ad running. Ouch! Add to this the occasional bidding war coupled with click fraud and you are well prepared for the ride of your life!

I believe that PPC advertising should always be a temporary solution. Not a permanent one! If you want a higher ranking without spending a fortune, you need content that people want to read.

The Importance of Sitemap in Search Engine Optimization

July 29th, 2008 by Lewis Talbert

By Karen Vertigan Pope

Search Engine Optimization. A lot of people are clamoring to know exactly what it is. SEO is the process of enhancing the presence and visibility of a website on search engine listings. Not only is it a process, it is about the tool required to make the enhancement happen. There are two main types of search engine optimization:

*On page Optimization

*Off Page Optimization

When SEO was in its infancy, getting back links to a site was the most important factor. In fact, many books and articles written on the subject will still tell people that getting back links is the only proper way to optimize a website. Back links with proper anchor text, of course.

After search engine optimization has a chance to mature, SEO specialists became aware that using only back links is not at all the best way to optimize a site. In fact, if an SEO is only creating back links, the site is not getting optimized.

In On page site optimization, there are techniques and tools that are related to your own website and in OFF page optimization, there are items which are related to the other websites. In On page the old technique was Meta Tag Optimization, appropriate content, Alt tag optimization, proper navigation for the website and much more activities through which changes were made to the website, itself. In OFF page optimization, only back links were created.

Today, optimization is a little bit different. While using the old techniques are still appropriate, creating a Sitemap can be added to the list. Sitemap is something that came in existence a few years ago.

A Sitemap is a graphical representation of the architecture of a website. There are two kinds of site maps. The first is used to assist visitors to a site to navigate the site and the second is done in XML. XML Sitemaps–usually called Sitemap with a capital ‘S’–are used by Goggle to gather information about the site.

Sitemap is especially important if your site:

* Has dynamic content

* Has pages with a lot of flash or AJAX

* Is new and does not have many links

* Has a lot of archived pages that are not linked well, or not at all

Using Search Engine Optimization Effectively

July 14th, 2008 by Lewis Talbert

Author: Sarah Folgea

Search Engine optimization can change your business forever. It can mean the difference between having a website and having a successful website. A good search engine optimization plan can bring your website some much needed life into it.

A website that has used search engine optimization properly will not only be much easier to find but it will also make your website faster as well as smarter and to top it off a lot more profitable than before. You need a search engine optimization plan that focuses on certain keywords within your website and makes your website easier to see for the search engines.

Making your site better with search engine optimization has a huge wealth of all kinds of advantages. To start with and the most important factor is that it increases your visibility within then search engines; this then in turn makes your website more accessible to clients and relevant traffic.

The term search engine optimization is the sometimes complicated but if done right simple process of making your website search engine friendly. It does this is two ways; in a technical manner and in a content manner as well.

Usually making your website more search engine friendly includes a few things that need to be done. A search engine optimization plan would have to include the changing of your title tags and Meta tags within the website. Also the template of your website can have a factor on your search engine optimization plan and so can the navigation.

Where your titles are concerned within your website they can be very effective within your search engine optimization plan. Your title tag only needs to have your main keyword within it. This will make it more effective within the search engines. Every page on your website can have a title tag; make them as relevant to that particular page as you can. You are trying to optimize your website and make it fit entirely within your niche. Do not be tempted to put catchy phrases or gimmicks within the title tag. Make it as clean as possible and make it relevant, doing this properly will ensure that your search engine optimization plan is going to succeed in the long run.

Moving on from the title tags and onto keywords; you have to have relevant and useful keywords for your website. Think about it logically; what would you search for in a search engine if you were looking for similar services or products? Instead of just having keywords, try using key phrases as well. This will benefit your search engine optimization plan hugely.

Search Engine Optimization 4 Basic Rules for Quality SEO

July 3rd, 2008 by Lewis Talbert

By Sean Ray

Search Engine Optimization doesn’t have to be complicated. The key thing is to remember that each and every page of your web site is a unique entity and has to be treated appropriately for search engine optimization. Four basic rules should guide your efforts:

1. Get the keywords right. Make sure you’ve selected words that meet your marketing criteria. Picking words that are too general will only result in being one of millions. More specific words will result in higher rankings. Make sure, however, that the words you choose are usable. Example: ‘sudoku puzzles’ and ‘sudoku games’ have two completely different rankings; ‘search engine optimization’ and ‘optimizing search engines’ do too.

2. Use keywords in your page titles. Many people use inappropriate names or their company name in the page titles. Yet that’s not the way people search. Each page should have the appropriate keywords for that page.

3. Use keywords in your title tag, and meta tags. For each page, be sure to include the appropriate keywords in the all the page tags. Don’t be glib about the meta description either. Make the description as alluring and interesting as possible – including the keywords. Many search engines actually use the meta description as the citation that is displayed on a search

The Importance of Organic Search Engine Optimization

July 1st, 2008 by Lewis Talbert

By James Copper

Organic search engine optimization (SEO) refers to manual page optimization as opposed to automatic submittal and page alteration, which is the most common. SEO is a web-based tool that allows a website to be listed on various search engines, such as Google and Yahoo. The higher up a site is listed, the more web traffic it will have and, therefore, the more success the business is likely to have. For instance, a company listed on Google’s first page is likely to have a lot more traffic than a company listed on the fourth or fifth page.

It’s a well known fact that organic search listings and general search listings are the most used by search engine browsers. Several studies claim that 70% of search engine users prefer organic SEO’s to sponsored listings or pay-per-click advertisements. Many search engine optimization companies have moved away from organic SEO and are utilizing paid searchers more regularly on a day-to-day business.

What’s the difference? Pay-per-click advertisements reflect a company’s budget because, in order for them to be placed on a search engine page, the company pays the SEO company a certain amount of money. Organic listings, on the other hand, are placed based on the quality of a website and how well a company’s site meets the strict search engine guidelines.

While organic SEO can be incredibly beneficial to your website, it’s not done easily and cannot guarantee overnight success. You’re likely to spend a lot of money on site redesign and content and you may need to hire outside help (such as graphic designers, writers or SEO experts) but it will pay off in the long run. Ultimately, you’ll save money that you would have spent on paid advertisements and, because search engine users prefer organic SEO, your company will benefit and eventually rise above the larger corporations paying for their listings.

Preparing a website for organic SEO can take months, but it’s important to work hard and try to make your website unique compared to others. Several successful organic listings contain key words that are unlikely to be used on other sites. The trick is to implement the words carefully and in a discrete manner. Simply typing a long list of words can be unsuccessful and will only turn off consumers once they reach your site. With a bit of hard work and a great content writer, the words can be incorporated in a meaningful and subtle manner.
